New runner and doing XC? Tips?
Endurance is key! Just try to go slow (even if it means running a 15+ minute mile) and keep going. If you have to stop then so be it. Eventually you will be running with the pack, and don't feel discouraged if they get really far in front of you because it happens, and there will always be someone struggling as well (find a friend at your pace!). Yes XC will help you lose weight if you don't eat junk food/too many calories the rest of the day. Most of the time sprinters have bulky legs/more muscles, whereas long distance runners are lean. I went from 141-129 since X-mas, and running is a huge part of it. =) Just keep at it, and don't give up hope! =)
