My Dad's will says to liquidate & divide ets equally between his wife and adult children. What now?

Initially, his wife said there was no will. Then my brothers and I confronted her and she produced one. The will says to liquidate all ets "as soon as practicable" and split evenly between his wife, me, and my two brothers. I know his estate includes his tangible and real property, which is not a whole lot. But does "ets" include his bank account? His wife acts like he was broke, but I did his taxes every year, so I know better. What is stopping her from withdrawing everything? Do we get an attorney? Can they get bank records and make her pay money back that she takes out? Must we go through probate? She is the named executor and has POA, so I'm not sure what we can do as beneficiaries. Please help.
