Need ideas for a good gift of appreciation (in addition to paying someone back $$)?

depends on what sort of grandparents, and how young they are/or feel!, a meal out, if they enjoy that sort of thing, a big bunch a nice smelling flowers, if they are old fashioned, a hamper of special foods and tea's etc that they wouldnt buy themselves, may be something from a different country, Harrods here in england is a good idea, you dont have to spend lot, good old fsashioned english tea and biscuits! something that shows deep thought about what they like.
